CADFaster Getting "Close[r] (To The Edit)"

Not an Art post this time but I want to leave the following 2 posts up for a while...

Perception, Breakthrough, Success & Help: The LARUG Part(1)

Perception, Breakthrough, Success & Help: The Twisted Family Part (and we all have or need those, no?)

Thanks to Tuomas Holma & Juulia Tarma from CadFaster for all their hard work in getting some useful products to help the AEC/BIM progress (and keeping us clued in)...

I keep up with their products, as they are really getting to the heart of things that are needed & useful for collaboration... Live & Anywhere!!!

...Even on the iPad thingies whether you use it For Revit or For Other Platforms we think this is one to keep your eyes on... Use the preceding 6 links and the image to see more & get your own & let us & them know what you think!!!

And yeah, I saw the following song debut and Art Of Noise & Zang Tumb Tumb were refreshingly unique... it still holds up... and made a nice title for this post since I feel CadFaster is getting Close to the...

Enjoy.

99 Percent(ages) and a Bitch Ain't One

Creativity and Inspiration... Ahhh that's nice!!!

In the article there is a link to books on both Brian Eno and Robert Fripp...

Hit the image, as always.
My thanks goes out to Scott McDowell & the 99% by Behance...(though they probably don't know I am thanking them; if you see them pass that along :-b)

The idea that breakthroughs come in the shower, etc. brings home an idea I have long used, where: when I am going to create something, or when I am at an impasse; also usually after an initial plan of attack, I take a break and forget about whatever 'it' is and usually within 10 minutes (but sometimes at 4 am) a solution (inspiration) hits... Validation for being human I guess :-)

When dreams are done...

I get messages from my beauty
Still wish were from you
No matter how beautiful we sing
I wish it were you

I see eyes in my dream and
wish they were you
Though they look like you do
when you look in me to
And the dream is as real
but still pained it's not you

A wish of proximity
and wish it were here
No hair silken smooth
no skin caress so clear

It compares not to you
comparison's not of you

Think that there is reality
I think there is none
Feel there is sanity
I fear there is none

In my dreams there is you though
my dream is of you

Whatever you want is whatever I get
Whatever I want is whatever we get
Whatever we want is whatever you get
Whatever they get is whatever they get

We are all they
They are all want

Sweet goodnight in your eyes
Sweet goodnight your eyes
Soft awaken swirled waters
Softly awaken the queen sleeps

No please will get it done
No want make it happen
Will want make it happen
Will please when it's done

Too long til it's done started
Even ever never see done
That dream takes all night
And all day no daylight

When your dream is it's done
When the dream is no more
Then there will be beginning
Continuation will in our heart

Burned into my skin
Like you burned into my life
Your love's a burning fire
Hot fire will keep it's fire light
Lightning's charge across the valley
Like the successful battle cry
Success has it's price though
Already ready so

Though I don't speak of cost
There is none too great in mind
Though I don't speak of loss
There is none such is kind

Sweet sleep beautiful dreamer
Sleep well beautiful dream
Wake well beautiful maker
Your day is to be made

Make it what you want your will
and your want will make it happen
Happen to want what you will
And dream of what can happen

(FWIW: The images were added for no apparent reason other than pure visual gratification)

Painting Without Paint is NOT what Mr. Berkun is talking about, since those Funny or Die folks have his point at heart!!!

To bastardize a quote from Scott Berkun: Some things can not be done. All that is never created is never created.

WOW, that's simple, obvious and mostly overlooked... Let's keep it that way so only the motivated (and hopefully talented) create our works of art. ...Thinking more on it talent has no influence, only the doing part...

We have all seen what we feel is bad Art produced but hey if it is bad that's OK too, someone loved it enough to do it, so there IS merit in everything 'done'...Also who the fuck is anybody to judge?

Change the damned channel or look away or close the book if you don't like it... Better yet find out WHY you don't like it and you may find that it's all about you and the piece touched something strongly enough that you actually reacted!!! The point of sharing one's Art.

So I will tell my procrastinating self: Painting without Painting is not Painting...Get Painting J!!!

SB's writings are great (Here's One, and yet Another)... now go Paint, or Write or Videograph or...!!!

Stick what where??? What do Dogs, Freaks and Cesar Millan have in common?

Oh; stick your camera up to the little hole in the menacing box (at the Venice Beach FreakShow) and... This is what your camera is likely to see...

This is but one of the wierd, wild, gross and fantastic exhibits at the Venice Beach FreakShow. ...No, not the freak show on the boardwalk outside!!! That one is pretty played out, boring and redundant... how many stoners and bad drummers can one beach hold? A lot it seems... but I digress...

My 9 yr old daughter wanted to go (back) to the Venice FreakShow (hit the image for more info), so we went in and weren't disappointed!!! It Rocks and is worth the $5...

Not only nailing into one's head but drilling in also!!! Glad we ate after!!! Need a sword swallower or Electric Girl??? They can be found there also... Yes; this is the Electric (or was it Rubber Girl?) walking around her stationary hand... AHHHHH!!!!!!

Turns out Rocky, the 5 legged dog, who VBFS owners Todd & Danielle Ray saved from a life spent in shelters had an attitude problem...

I do remember seeing him being kinda freaked out (no pun intended at first) by all the people around...

Well, anyway: Todd told me that the Ray's were at a dog supply store, that was advertising for The Dog Whisperer, (Season 5-Episode 16) and he said something to the effect of 'I bet I can show you something you've never seen before... and he has a bad attitude...'

So he did: and they didn't: and they offered to do an episode that included Rocky...

You can see more by hitting the link or image above...

Todd told me that Cesar is no BS; he worked with Rocky for about 1 hour and the dog was completely transformed and now has a completely different attitude (in a good and freaky way I might add); now Rocky is much happier!!!
Hail Cesar!!! @cesarmillan

We also met Larry Gomez; you can catch a bit about Larry's cousin in THIS Discovery Channel bio...as well as find out more on him at the link/image left. He seemed to be a very nice man indeed and quite gracious.

My daughter was a bit overwhelmed but was so brave...my son being a bit older was all for it from the word go... At first she was scared but at the same time really wanted to take a photo with Larry, so we did...

Unfortunately the image is out of focus but that's not important... what is was we had a great time and were opened up to the fact that "freaks" are just as normal and abnormal as everyone else!!!

Have fun if you go and be sure to bring a few extra dollars in case you want to staplegun into someone, or take your photo with one of the fantastic freaks... and the more you speak to them you may find that they are less freaky than most people you currently know... they're just not afraid to embrace their individuality. Artists indeed!!! Embrace a Freak today!!!

video

Finally: is that me standing on the guy sandwiched between the bed(s) of nails??? Yes!!! and it's no BS either... yikes!!!

Keep it Coming: Beautiful & Technical Fashion

DEZEEN Blogs it up again...
While getting your body scanned for custom clothes fitting may still be limited in availability; these printed fashions seem to be on an interesting path!!! Printing and Lasers??? Oh Yeah!!!

That's right these first examples are printed; if you are a Techie, or in Manufacturing or Design you have probably seen your 'widget' printed 3dimensionally; and since I fall into at least 3 of those 3 categories I have seen & used many 3D prints ...just not for sexy fashion!!!

If you use these and they leave marks on your body just give us a call, we can help you work it out :-)

Photographs above are by Ariel Efron (and used without express permission). Read More HERE.

Now if you are more into Cutting (and I mean Laser Cutting) then Dezeen has more RIGHT HERE... Oh, do I love snakes!!!

These are from Amsterdam designer Camille Cortet (who) created these snake-like leggings... As always hit the images for more links.

Now go get your Technically Hot Fashion on.

Photograph (left) is by Vincent van Gurp (and used without express permission as well)

Art in LA: Ace shows Robert Irwin to The Date Farmers

More From LA

Go see Art!!!
I took my kids to see two Ace Galleries in LA this weekend and we saw some evocative Art with a broad range of context & emotion: in the Beverly Hills' Ace we saw a Robert Irwin column, along with some other painters and sculptors' works...very cool... Too bad there wasn't a major RI installation or some paintings there too, but it's nice to see these columns wherever they appear.

Then we went down Wilshire to the LA Ace to catch The Date Farmers exhibit... quite exhaustive and rich.

My kids went more for these and cited the works' emotion and power.

I have to agree with them, but I do like the challenge of both styles; the Super Cool and the Sub Pop (as I see them).

There's something great going on when everyone is affected by a work and these hit on so many levels that we all were blown away at every turn!

Shit; I'm gonna get painting more!!!

...FYI: if you use Internet Explorer this blog may look odd, so use another browser... IE still sucks!!! TRY FIREFOX!!!

Anyhow: I haven't forgotten about you all, or this site though... So without further ado I will begin again to share more regularly here and I will start back in with a link to My Modern Metropolis. (In addition to all the stuff above!!!)

It's a link that you might (read as you'd better :-)) like to explore some creative stuff from/on!!!

Image at left is used without permission from: Christophe Gilbert. Beautiful work obviously!!! Go see more... I will (again)...

A Succession of Dali (s)

The two above 'sketches' are a pair that I brought to a holiday party where gifts were to be 'stolen' from one another (3 times maximum). As life can sometimes be one of these went to someone I really didn't like (really, really) well they were the 2nd to last to obtain it and it was taken away at the end of the game by someone who is perfect to own them in my mind. Oh the 2nd of the pair was donated to them from another friend who was the last to steal it from his ex wife
This one is hiding the initial Dali below
This is the only remaining hidden Dali, though it doesn't remain any longer

Banksy In LA???

I don't know if this was one of Banksy's works last month or just a copy...
either way it was refreshing on the drive.

Portrait of Tasso

Photos (let alone digital copies on the web) don't do this any justice: I do though like the 4 foot painting itself. Acrylic pounded into & over oil.
